Easter Table Ideas

You know me, give me a chance to set a table and I am THERE. Give me an actual annual key day of celebration like Christmas or Easter and I am REALLY there. Suddenly you have a theme that you can work with, a table filled with friends and family and loved ones not to mention food groaning and the chance for a post lunch nap….all my favourite things in life.

We are busy here in the village at Easter with various events on that everyone in town has to help out with so it means that we are always home and never away. It also means that we inevitably have visitors over the course of the long weekend from Thursday until Monday. Easter Sunday lunch has always been a special one for me…the excitement of the morning egg hunt is over so a long lunch is in order. I like to set the table using with a loose theme – Easter in the Northern hemisphere is about Spring and new life and while we down here are usually dealing with autumn leaves and cooler, shorter days, Easter is such a lovely occasion that I think the traditional pastels, bunnies, eggs and colour are in order on the day.

I discovered a great variety of items to decorate your Easter Table with from Woolies – all for next to nothing that can be mixed together to create a gorgeous table for Easter Sunday. Let’s take a look at what’s on offer:

Easter ribbon $3

Cute paper straws $2 (pack of 20)

Coloured twine $3 (10 metres)

Paper Napkins $2 (pack of 25)

Small Wire Egg Baskets $5

Coloured eggs for hanging $3 (pack of 6)

Pulled together these cute decorations can make a big impact on your Easter table without costing a fortune. Throw in some flowers from the garden, my green turf bunny from last year (that actually stays out all year round) and my gorgeous new Mozi tablecloth I love this cute setting.

I added some of the ribbon around each wine glass (you won’t lose your glass this way) as well as the paper straws into some bottles for the kids (or even an adult cocktail to start with: think peach Bellini or the like).

The twine also looks cute around the vase. You could even tie them around the cutlery or into around your napkins if you wanted to use linen.

The napkins make a cute feature on the dinner plate with the hanging eggs placed into an eggcup.

And I whacked my mate bunny up onto a cake stand with some of the hanging eggs around him. These would look gorgeous on some bare sticks with them hanging down – I sometimes like to create a kind of Easter ‘tree’ in the house somewhere and these are perfect for that.

There is quite a big range of stuff available in Woolies (near the party supply section) I was impressed with the range, cost and the fact you can grab what you need at the same time as the food – one less trip!

Do you celebrate Easter Sunday lunch?
Do you decorate the table with a theme?

Where or where did you find the bunny? I was at a restaurant last night and they had one too. Want! Lovely decorations Beth and a bargain to boot.

Thanks Nell – my Mum gave me this bunny last year (I think she got it from Bed Bath & Table) but they actually have other bunny versions in Woolies too – sitting on their hind leg ones…you could try there too.

This looks great! Such a shame mine are all older now, and a much as I tried the Eater Bunny & Santa & Co have all lost there appeal unfortunately. I miss little people and the awe of these celebrations.

The bunny is a super cute little thing (I have to agree Nell)!! If you are in Melbourne I did see them a few weeks ago at Fitzroy Nursery. The had small and large ones at that stage, maybe worth checking out still??

I celebrate ANYTHING. Because that’s how we roll- any excuse. We sort of theme I ‘spose. My Woolies has a teeny party supply area. Maybe you can use your influence to expand it?
