Sing a rainbow

My style might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I can’t imagine not being surrounded by colour in my home.

Can you sing a rainbow too at your place?

Comments

  1. I cant wait to sing a rainbow in 5 years time when we move out to the farm. Collecting rainbow particles as we speak.

    Inspiring – thank you xo

  3. You are motivating me to start a rainbow! I keep saying that before decorating I am getting a feel for our new house except we moved in 15 months ago I am starting to realise I am just lazy! Thanks for the motivation I needed

No I still use that line myself…you have to live in the space but you also have to start somewhere…good luck!

Love all your colours Beth. I too enjoy colours and try to incorporate as many as possible into our home. Would love to do so in the garden as well but my gardening days are over so just have to wait till the bottlebrush flowers along with the geraniums which take little looking after.

Almost 12 months ago I got fed up with my decor & told my husband ” I want it to look like a rainbow has vomitted over our house” he laughed & said ” I doubt that is term interior designers use but whatever…” It’s a slow process but we are slowly removing all the old stuff & replacing it with new brighter clours. Its fun! And I love your style x

I’m a colour lover too – I don’t do boring, beige or neutral – but I do it on the walls!

When we were building our house our kitchen guy tried to steer me towards whites and neutral colours for our bench top and cupboards for “resale”. I was quick to point out to him that we weren’t building OUR house for someone else….which is how I ended up with a kitchen that has lovely deep yellow benchtops and aubergine cupboards that everyone comments on how much they love and which makes me smile every time I come into it!

People need to learn to be brave and to embrace colour!

Absolutely! Your home should be a reflection of the people that live in it and breathe life into it. It should be somewhere you love, feel safe and happy in…sounds like you have done all that!

  8. That is so funny that you posted this today….my house is so full of colour that I sometimes think that it may look a little crazy to someone walking in! I actually showed my husband your house on Houzz today and he loved it as much as I did…we also both commented on how you had heaps of colour and clashing patterns like we do! I could only dream to have as good a ‘design-eye’ as you, but I felt reassured that my cray-cray rainbow house was a little bit babymac-cool! X

  9. Yep, there are rainbows at my house!

I just found the link to your home from Houzz and I must say congratulations on having and creating such a warm, colourful, eclectic and interesting home. I found myself oooohing and ahhhhhing over every picture! I love your pops of colour everywhere and it makes me more inspired to continue to use colour in my home whenever possible.

The way you described your style is very similar to how I describe mine and its so nice to see someone else with a mish mash of shapes, styles and patterns that all seem to just ‘work’. I live in a 3 bedroom Edwardian in Northcote in Melbourne and with an old house there is always something to fix, do up, improve or change and I am constantly inspired by people like you who have such a great eye for style. After a total renovation of the kitchen/laundry and bathroom which has made the space incredibly light and spacious, my bedroom is my next project so I am getting ideas from everywhere and the links to where you have bought items has made me get very excited!

Your girls are terribly adorable and you look like a really happy and content person. Good on you for moving out of the rat race and finding your life again in your gorgeous home.

Thanks so much for your lovely comment – I still struggle to think that I have an “eye” it’s just something that I love to do…probably should have done interiors or something after School. Good luck with your renos…my bedroom is on my list too…needs some serious attention! Thanks again and have a great weekend ๐Ÿ™‚
