Housekeeping

I’m off to the Big Smoke early this morning for a meeting. The fact that this means that I will have SEVERAL hours ALONE appeals to me greatly. I’ve been with one of my children, constantly for many, many, many days in a row now. I’m grateful for the 1.5 hours commute to the city I must say.

Some bullet points, if you will excuse me this sunny Wednesday morning.

  • Last night Harper went to sleep in her bed at 6.30pm and she DID NOT MAKE A NOISE OR MOVE OUT OF SAID BED UNTIL 5.45am. I don’t think that has ever happened. Ever. In her entire almost 3 years of life. No noise. No getting up. No interruptions. No NOTHING. I’m not saying anything to jinx it so I’m not saying anything, but I’m NOT SAYING ANYTHING REALLY LOUDLY.
  • I am still picking large fistfuls of Daphne from the garden which pleases me no end. The smell! I’m not sure there is a sweeter one. If you can plant one somehow, somewhere, do it.

  • Even though Spring is here I seem to still be eating large bowls of porridge for breakfast each morning. It makes me feel like I am being healthy although it has large quantities of yoghurt spread over it’s back. I really must start exercising again too. How are you all going with your Spring exercise regimes that are so popular this time of year?

  • Speaking of shoving food into your mouth, did you know that these are back? Toobs. A flavour of the 80’s that have been bought back by popular demand. They are available at the vending machine at the pub and have been on high rotation with the 2 year old. Can you blame her? The burgery cheezel really is unbeatable.

  • Insert gratuitous Kevin Bacon shot here. He is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. What a regal sounding breed. I just like saying it.

  • One of my best (and oldest) friends sent me this shot the other week from our teen years. I guess I was probably 14 or 15 here. Something that sprung to mind was AREN’T YOU MEANT TO HAVE POSTERS OF BOYS ON YOUR WALLS? I had tulips. Is it any wonder I live where I do? Tulip Time is just around the corner too…excitement is mounting. I was also pleased to see the selection of board games neatly stacked…Game of Life. Cluedo. Simon Says! From Simon Townsend’s Wonder World! Sweet memories…
Hope you have a fabulous day doing whatever it is you do. I’m going to enjoy the sun. The peace. The city!

    2. I long for tulips but the climate is wrong

    3. Kevin is adorable.

  2. Ahh tulips … of course you had those on your wall Beverly πŸ˜‰

  3. I knew that you would eventually have a breakthrough with Harper, been there, done that and it really does pay off in the end. Congrats on all of your perseverance, that light at the end of the tunnel is shining brightly. Have a wonderful day, being from Perth, I’m extremely jealous. I just adore the beauty of Sydney, but so want to spend some time exploring the Blue Mountains.

  4. I hope to see tulip time this year. Enjoy the time to yourself. Last night sounded great and I hope you have endless repeat performances. Jx

  7. Love Tulip Time! Must get a bag of Toobs today!

  8. Isn’t it ironic that a day in the busy city is a day of peace for you. When I can escape to the grocery store without a kid in tow, I feel like I’m on vacation. It’s the little things πŸ™‚ Cherish that long drive in & out of the city Beth. Us Mummas rarely get a moment to ourselves.
GO HARPER!!!!!! Keep sleeping baby girl – and send some sleep vibes to my two πŸ™‚
    xx
P.S. I had posters of horses on my walls as a teen. Yeah, I was cool like that πŸ™‚

  9. Haha what a great shot of adolescent Beth πŸ™‚ Well done on the Harper front (not saying it too loud or anything). Your Daphne is just glorious…so is Kevin Bacon (even though he is much cuter than the real Kevin Bacon!) Enjoy that city trip lady & the hours to just…be xo

  10. I’m totally in to the spring exercise. A half hour of stretch/pilates in the morning and either a dance class or 50 minutes of zumba at night. I’m 5 days in and going strong.
I love daphne, I can’t wait to get my fence fixed so I can plant a new one (old one died) but I don’t want to do it before then as I’m sure the fence guys will trample it.

  11. Enjoy the peace!
Must be something in the air because Lucy and Darbs stayed in their beds all night too. Unheard of!

I’m still eating porridge every day in the Middle East when it’s 43 degrees every day. Love the stuff.

    xxx

  12. I spent some time without the kids today, but I still kept checking for them in the rearview mirror as I was driving.
It is so nice though to do some shopping without little people around. Such a treat!

  13. Yay Harper! One small step…

And that puppy is soooo gorgeous!

  14. Got to love a whole nights sleep Id be shouting from the rooftops too (but ever so quietly so as to not jinx it) hope it continues. Life with good sleep is sooooooooooooo much better/easier/pleasant all round thats for sure

oh and that dog – gorgous

Tulips my favourite flower also – but dont think I had posters of them on the wall as a kid?

  15. Im doing the couch to 5k thingy (its an app) and loving it. I havent changed my diet but things feel …. tighter! Whoop! xsx
