Smile!

Today I woke up with butterflies in my belly. I set my alarm for the first time, in like ever, because I had places to be, things to do. The hall had to be set up for the ball, I had the Kidspot announcement at 10, I had a cameraman from the Project coming at 1. A BIG DAY. Oh, and the sun was shining. Let’s not forget that. After days and days of fog and rain and wind, there was sun. It was going to be a good day.

And it was.

I can’t say I’m not disappointed that I didn’t make the cut for Kidspot. Because I’m human and I worked really, really hard at all the posts. To vary the content, the mediums, the message. All while keeping it true to BabyMac. But it’s OK. They chose a great winner and I know Katrina will do them proud in NYC.

I had an amazing opportunity later in the day to talk about something I love. Blogging. The Project are running a story in the next week and lucky little ME got to talk about it. About the amazing, supportive community that surrounds me – the blogging community and all the BabyMac readers. Yes YOU. That writing about the things that I love – my family, my home, what I eat, entertaining, my life, has people interested. And it might even me something I could do FOR A LIVING. Fancy that! Wonderful people, buoying me up, supporting and loving me along the way, well it blows my mind. The fact that a mainstream TV is interested in what we all do and that brands are starting to listen to my voice, our voices. Well, I think it’s fucking exciting. And I am beyond proud that today I got to be a spokesperson for us today. Booyah!

I am beyond grateful for all your kind comments, emails, messages of kindness and support today. Thank you. I am so proud of what I have achieved over the past year, for being acknowledged as being a Top Blogger, and a top 5 blogger. What great company I was in!

And Hyundai, if you’re keen? I have a GREAT idea for a TV commercial for you. Have you heard of Chet Faker? Let’s talk…

    xx
    big love

  2. And through all of this, what I love the best is the images of your table for the ball, the real stuff, that is just fabulous. That’s what we want to continue seeing.

If other amazing opportunities come your way because of it, then that is all good too,but you don’t need to win anything to confirm that you have taste, style, wonderful images and an entertaining writing style.

  3. I was bummed for you that you didn’t win – but an awesome effort to get there. Your KidSpot blog posts were truly, very awesome.

  20. See how amazing you are. Even this post is positive and happy and honest. That’s why we all love you!

You won in my books. I was telling my husband over dinner, that your writing is better than ever and that you inspire me.

Can’t wait to see you on the big screen next week xx

  21. Also, when I saw the title of this post, I immediately sang;
    “SMILE, you’re on CANDID CAMERAAAAAA”

Bwahahahahha. Nothing beats a good 80’s theme song…

  23. Oh, Beth, I’m sorry you didn’t win. That Ford looked good on you. I shall watch the Project all week. I love your blog

  24. Well that just sucks balls doesn’t it!? I was sure you were a shoe-in! I love that you’re so buoyant and graceful, despite being obviously and understandably just a little bit shattered. Isn’t that a wonderful thing to teach the little ladies of the house…that as long as you are doing something you love and feel strongly about, the outcome, win or lose, is always a win!! Much love to you my favourite blogger, for keeping it real and making it fun!

  25. Well written Beth. If I hadn’t seen you on the top 5 blogs I wouldn’t have found your blog for ages. You’re now one of my must reads. I thought of you today around 10.30 and wondered how you were. Drink up that Pol Roger and dance like crazy at the ball, I look forward to seeing it all unfold here.

  26. Wish you could have all won Beth. Onwards and upwards as they say. Take care and have a great weekend x

  35. It’s up, up, up all the way for you, Beth. x

  36. I don’t really know what Blogher is etc but well done for coming 2nd or whatever it is.

    I enjoy our blog.

I’m worried and concerned about the fact that you appear to live in a cold climate and do not have a quince tree.

But apart from that you seem on track in every respect.

    Hooray. xx

  37. So much love 4 you and your blog. At the moment I am on a crowded bus listening to ep 2 of “over the back fence”. I just snorted trying to suppress a laugh. a chortle if you like. Did I mention I’m getting over a cold? A phlegmy coughand cold?

    Thanks love.

    Love,
    Gab x

  38. I am so excited to see your star rise and the world embrace all that is BabyMac. I have loved visiting your place ever since I stumbled into blog land while looking for other pregnant mamas. There you were, making me laugh, cry, did my head, pump my fist. I am still getting over the Kidspot announcement – I took it for granted that you had it in the bag.
I can’t wait to see you take on NY and BlogHer, but more than that I look forward to more of the BabyMac that has kept me coming back for more than three years. Love your work.
