Things I fancy this Friday

: The gals and I had to purchase ourselves a new rake this week {as you do} and I figured that seeing as we were ‘in town’ that we deserved a wee ‘treat’. Plus I have been sooooooooo missing eating out – just at a cafe or something – even for a coffee! So we sat down at a cafe and I shared a chicken BLT with Harps and Daisy knocked off some raisin toast {sans butter…weirdo} and I had a coffee. We sat in the sunshine. Eaves dropped on all the other tables. Watched the passing parade. Felt part of something busy{ish}. It was awesome.

: This bookcase. It’s meant for kids rooms but I want it in a larger version for our lounge room. I know, I am greedy, but a gal can dream. It’s just about the perfect bookcase in my humble opinion – storage – open shelves – white – stylish – fabulous…

: Geez it would be nice to see some sunshine. Some real, longer than just a day sunshine. Enough for me to get washing done. Get stuck into the garden. It’s been wet! wet! wet! down here – I have never seen greener grass than ours…it would be nice to get out and enjoy it.

: Planning for my little sister’s wedding. The table settings. The place cards. The hens weekend. The frock. The present. It’s going to be here before we know it, and I just about can’t wait. LOVE a wedding. Let’s just hope that I am looking fabulous…in something…sigh! Oh AND! They are getting married on our wedding anniversary! Can’t wait to live it all over again…

: My husband. I have not seen enough of the man of late – with fishing trips and working – and well, I miss him. I miss him around at night to laugh with. I miss him during the day, I just plain miss him. Bring on Christmas when for a week or so I will have my partner in crime with me all. the. time. Even if you don’t have them helping out with every aspect of the kids – it’s so nice just to have them there, if you need them isn’t it? I am not a solo parent at all. Hats off to all the single parents out there! Oh! And he may or may not have purchased me a certain necklace that I had my eye on from my favourite shop down here because he was away for many days fishing in the wilderness without a phone. I like his style…

: I need to focus on artwork in the house. Where to hang it. What we need. What we have. It’s been one of those things that I just haven’t been able to get around to mentally {we have just used the existing hooks that were here} but it’s about time to make my own stamp. Properly. Have always liked these little shelf thingys {image taken from A Merry Mishap} from IKEA that just have prints/photos/objects a’ leaning. Perhaps that’s where I will start…

: The smell of pine in my lounge room. The tree! The lights! The eleven million fruit mince tarts that I have consumed. This is quite possibly my favourite time of year. It’s the anticipation. Excitement. Preparation. LOVE.

: This week I have quite fancied frocking up & trotting off to a Christmas soiree held somewhere spectacular like this. While it’s been a while since I have been to an actual working do – it’s the first time that I haven’t been working, and haven’t had an option to and, well, I miss the option. I think there should be Christmas party for Mama’s – where we can let our hair down, get inappropriately drunk, pash our partners openly and passionately, dance, sing loudly and badly, swap war stories and then pass out and NOT have to wake up for anyone small. Sigh…

: The fact that we have some old mates {and their 2 kids} coming down for 2 nights on the weekend. While we have had endless guests – these are the first non family – and I can’t wait to show off the house, village – all of it! And drink 17654 glasses of champagne whilst doing so.

Hope YOU have a fabulous weekend too!

  1. A great list Beth, lots of loveliness in amongst all the busy-ness.

Thank you for introducing me to Kristin Ash – I think perhaps it was worth having your hubby fishing to receive some of her loveliness.

    Enjoy your bubbly weekend,

    Felicity x

  2. *hands up* I’ll come to that Christmas party. x

  3. I like this new Friday thing. Lots to discuss. I have the Ikea picture frame thingies – you could do the same with cornices or even just a plank of wood.

You could get a local carpenter to replicate that bookshelf for you, no?

    Sunshine, yes. Sunshine.

    Wedding, yes. Wedding!

You must miss the company the most. I guess that’s one bad aspect to your new move… improving in the new year?

Don’t miss the parties – I am over them. Enjoy your guests!! x

  4. I love your idea for a Mum’s Xmas party!! I need one, and a holiday, and a sick day! πŸ™‚
So many things for you to look forward to. Have a great weekend with your friends and enjoy the champagne. πŸ™‚

  5. And why wouldn’t you fancy all that! xx.
