A room with a view

Out of one {of 3!} windows in our bedroom, this one makes my heart sing. For I can see the LOVE of my life at the moment.

My clothes line.

Stop it! Who knew I would get so much pleasure out of something so simple? I think it’s the past 6 years of living in a terrace, and then before that, in units for another say 5 or 6 years, that has me washing with gay abandon {can you even wash with gay abandon?}. If you can, then I am doing it.

I rush to the washing machine when I see some sunshine. I LOVE to take my basket out and hang out each item. Then to step back and see the line in all it’s glory in the spring breeze? Heaven. I’m in heaven.

I remember a time when it took a whole lot more than this to float my boat. My how things have changed! I blame my children for most things, and this is no exception.

  1. Weirdly, I think I’m most jealous of your Hills Hoist – how quickly do they dry clothes?

  2. I TOTALLY understand! We bought our very first house 3 yrs ago. The first thing I needed Hubby to do was put in a Hills hoist.
As a mama of 5 boys I do way too much washing……but I too love standing out in the sunshine hanging it out. Not so fond of the sorting and putting away- although recently i have started to get the kids to do that part- it’s AWESOME!
My only lament is that mine is not the old fashioned metal one so my kids can’t swing on it- bummer!

  3. Oh I totally get this. I LOVE a washing line full of lovely sun-dried clothes!

  4. Heavenly indeed…

  5. Love it!

  6. Hi Beth! Just stumbled upon your blog via facebook and had a sticky beak at your BEAUTIFUL new home and move to the country! I now have SERIOUS backyard, clothesline, green grass, clean air and local pub envy:) I love the blog site (?is that what they are called) and hope to have a sticky beak again real soon! Congratulations on your new home! Katie H from Dickson

p.s we move back into the NEW Dickson Street tomorrow with all reno’s now complete. Will hope to put some photos on facebook soon as you guys will surely see some changes!

  7. I’m with you on this one. I love hanging washing. I think it’s the fact that it must be a nice day if I’m janging out, so sunshine is good, and it means I am away from the constant cries of ‘mu-um’ for a few moments. There’s nothing like the smell of freshly washed and line dried sheets.
