3 Years Old

It was 3 years ago today that I/we started this blog! I can’t believe that I have been coming here for that long, jotting down my thoughts and frustrations, my joys and sharing the happiness that being a Mum has brought me.

Want to have a look at this date on all three years? Go on. It’s riveting. Really. No? Well here are some snaps at least…

2006

So innocent. And quiet. I still can’t believe that this blob turned into Daisy. And that the new photo I have of this little blob I currently look at will turn into a whole other someone else. Making babies surely is amazing.

2007

Oh shit, just realised that Daisy has not had any formal swimming lessons since then. Oh my, 2 years ago. MUST get onto that. Bad Mumma!

2008

Look at the chubby cuteness of this little chubba! Was this what she looked like a whole year ago? Has it really been a year since we went to the Zoo? Jeepers, must get onto THAT too. Oh and those jeans? Just last week they got put away because they are too short. SIGH.

2009

And take a look at her now. I took this just this morning before I ran out the door to go to work (a little depressing that it is still dark outside). What a way she has come from that little blob 3 years ago.

So…to celebrate…I have my first ever Go Shorty, it’s Your (3rd) Birthday Blog Giveaway! I know, a giveaway!

So…what am I giving away? Well after a long time thinking about what would be appropriate (and fabulous) I went to my older sister for inspiration. I am always amazed when I do my daily reading of other people’s blogs just how organised they are – meal plans and the like in between sewing (!) things for their children. I am SO not that person. I would like to be that person but alas I find myself (just last night) eating a cheese sandwich for dinner because it was 8pm before I had a second to myself and could not be bothered cooking anything.

My sister is no exception and is one of those people – she has 3 kids – 2 of those being twin boys who are 3 and a half (!) – and in between all those children she is organised and feeds her family real meals! She has recently been working on a new book (like how I say that like it’s no big deal? It’s a HUGE DEAL – well done Sar!) http://www.recipeblocks.com.au/ which helps people like me get more organised and plan ahead (who knew?) their meals. So my new years (blogging) resolution for the year ahead is to get more organised with cooking and feeding my family so to celebrate my goals with you I will be giving away one of their brand new books. Here, look!

So…all you have to do to win your very own starter kit…is leave a comment. I will send overseas as well so please enter my UK and USA friends! I will close off the competition on the weekend (Sunday 2nd August at 9pm AEST) so get in with your comment before then!

Thanks for stopping by over the past 3 years, reading, sending me comments and support. This place has been a lifesaver for me, a place for me to get out my frustrations and joy and make some wonderful friends. I hope that this next babe gets the same amount of web time, all the bits (good and bad) that come with the first 3 years of life, and I hope you will be here to share them with me.

Happy 3 years and Good luck!

Thought I’d reflect on the past 3 years in my life….

2006 – Moved back from Syd to London. Still fresh as a daisy (pardon the pun). Lots of travelling and fun in the sun.

2007 – started my job – thought it was “all that”, high flying policy officer and all…

2008 – Somehow got through a year of disliking myself and the life I had created….

2009 – got through the first year of my masters. Struggled through a job I don’t like so much. Broke up with my long term boyfriend and with the advice of many a good friend (including you Bettina) – fell back in love with him….

    Now – happy as larry!

When I think back on everything that has happened in the past 3 years it seems like a lifetime. And even though I’ve only met Daise twice, I feel like I know her sooo well! The little minx ๐Ÿ™‚
